Customer requirement:

This magnificent circa 1938 family detached home sat in a raised elevation with an attic full of conversion potential. An additional bedroom and wash facility was required for the family's relatives to come and stay within when visiting. This property had a wonderful gallery staircase that was a central feature to the home and as such whatever was added to the property HAD to blend with the existing style/finish and 'feel'.

LOFT solution:

Kevin determined that a rear dormer could be created within the attic void. Better still this dormer could have direct access on to a small balcony thereby affording the use of Juliette doors that could open and offer fabulous uninterrupted views across the surrounding country side. Within the loft void there was eaves space that could be utilised for a wash facility/bathroom. Survey and design brought about a plumbing change that could create further space and a more efficient heating system. A fabulous oak stair case gives the new demise a seamless flow from the existing demise to the new.


Even if you cannot 'see' or 'feel' a potential pre-conversion cubic addition LOFT will help you in the cause. Vast experience has allowed us to see what the naked eye often cannot or create what to the untrained eye appears impossible. Design/realignment and space generation are our speciality. By carefully assessing the attic area our lead Designer Kevin Coleman was able to determine that by correct relocation of the existing heating tank work a large area could be 'freed' — he also foresaw the opportunity to create a balcony over and existing parapet, thereby taking advantage of the spectacular views to the rear of this fine home. Internally the bespoke staircase blended beautifully with the existing case creating this seamless from ground to second floor — essential for a blended loft adaptation.
