Many clients come to us seeking that extra bit of space having already extended their homes once or even twice and are worried they'll not be able to add to their home further. This client had taken their original 1930's detached house in Sevenoaks, and transformed it from a four bedroom, two bathroom house to a five bedroom, three bathroom house by way of a side double storey extension. The increased roof void gave rise to additional accommodation potential in the loft and by clever design and consultation with the local planners we were able to create a further bedroom and ensuite in the attic thereby not only affording the client the increased foot print desired but also drastically increasing the property value in this highly desirable location.
In consultation with the client LOFT assessed the options available and then closely worked with the architect and planners alike to develop a scheme whereby the additional roof space and the existing attic merged and a sympathetic flank roof raise and rear dormer construction were added to generate a fantastic double bedroom and ensuite. The stairs consumed 'dead' areas within the home and turned up nicely into the new second floor.
Our free feasibility survey will often throw up options not considered by our clients — we are able to 'see' the design potential and offer accommodation gain solutions that can gain our clients valuable accommodation space they thought improbable.
